Longhua Memorial Place for Revolutionary Martyrs

Located at the northeastern corner of Shanghai Longhua Martyrs' Cemetery, No.180 West Longhua Road, it is also known as “Martyrdom Place of Twenty-Four Martyrs”. It was once the KMT’s execution ground for killing CPC members and revolutionaries. Between 1927 and 1937, the KMT authority detained and killed thousands of CCP members and patriots here, and among the most famous were Zhao Shiyan, Chen Yannian, Luo Yinong, Peng Pai and the Twenty-Four Martyrs of Longhua, etc., thus the name “Yuhuatai of Shanghai”. After the liberation of Shanghai, a monument titled “Martyrdom Place for Longhua Revolutionary Martyrs” was erected at the martyrdom place of the martyrs. Since 1981, it has been under the management of Shanghai Longhua Martyrs' Cemetery. Longhua Memorial Place for Revolutionary Martyrs was announced by the State Council as one of the third batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units on January 13, 1988.
