Tomb of Zou Rong

Located to the west of Lane 1000, Huajing Road, Huajing Town, the Tomb of Zou Rong is a round stone tomb, with the inscription “Tomb of Zou Rong” in the pinnacle bluestone in front of the tomb. In the stone pavilion to the east is a stone inscription “To the Tomb of Great General Zou Rong from Ba County”, which was created by Zhang Taiyan and written by Yu Youren. Zou Rong (1885~1905), born in Sichuan, was a modern democratic revolutionary. He wrote a book titled Revolutionary Army, and called himself “the Pioneer of Revolution”. He was arrested due to the Su Newspaper Case and died in prison. Liu San from Huajing, Shanghai buried the remains of Zou Rong beside Huangye Building. In the spring of 1924, Zhang Taiyan, Cai Yuanpei, et al renovated the tomb. In 1981, the tomb was renovated again. In 2001, the tomb was expanded with more afforestation, and the tomb area after expansion is also known as “Zou Rong Park”. The Tomb of Zou Rong was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Cultural Relics Protection Unit on August 25, 1981.
