Temple of Mother Huang
The Temple of Mother Huang is located in Shanghai Botanical Garden, No.1111 Longwu Road. There is a screen wall facing the hall, and a plaque with the inscription “Huang Daopo Memorial Hall” written by Zhao Puchu at the entrance. The temple features a brick-and-wood structure, with pictures, documents and objects of Huang Daopo displayed indoors. A plaque with the inscription “Temple of Mother Huang” written by Longhua native Lu Yingling is hung in the front hall. The inscription says that the temple was built in Lizhong in 1730 under the leading of Buddhist Zhengyuan, with land donated by locals. The temple was found in 1956. In the mid-1970s, the temple served as dormitory of the infrastructure construction site. Later on, the temple was included in Shanghai Botanical Garden during its land acquisition for expansion. After renovation, the Temple of Mother Huang was converted into Huang Daopo Memorial Hall by Shanghai Bureau of Parks and Woods. The Temple of Mother Huang was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Cultural Relics Protection Unit on November 17, 1987.
