Dingxiang Garden
Located at No.849 Huashan Road, it is a garden residence combining Chinese and Western style. The buildings are surrounded by green glazed tile dragon-shaped walls, so there was a saying that “a dragon occupies half of the garden.” Dingxiang Building, firstly built in 1862, is a garden residence of the American architectural style. Dingxiang Gardem was originally the residence of Li Jingmai, the youngest son of Li Hongzhang, and was later owned by different persons successively. In 1952, it was renovated, and a two-floor building was added. During the early years of the People’s Republic of China, it was the location of CPC East China Bureau, and Chen Yi, Pan Hannian, et al successively worked and lived here. After 1952, it once served as the branch of Xingguo Hotel. Ding-Xiang Huayuan was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Outstanding Heritage Architecture on February 15, 1994, and as Shanghai Municipality Cultural Relics Protection Unit on April 4, 2014.
