Memorial Archway
Built from 1898 to 1935, the memorial archway is of the Ming and Qing palace style with a brick-and-wood structure. The gates are in the central axis. The whole memorial archway is 16m wide, 8m deep and 6.8m high. There are two large beast-head copper rings attached to the red gates, a vertical plaque with the inscription “Jiaotong University”, arch-shaped window openings at sides, and a pair of stone lions in front of the gates. The original stone bridge now only has railings remaining. The memorial archway has a cement base and hipped-gable green glazed tile roofs, with color paintings under eaves and white lines on scarlet walls. It was rebuilt in 1935 and overhauled in 1985. The memorial archway was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Outstanding Heritage Architecture on February 15, 1994, and as Shanghai Municipality Cultural Relics Protection Unit on April 4, 2014.
