The graveyard is oval, with a terrazzo monument in the front to commemorate student movement leaders Shi Xiaowen and Mu Hanxiang. Chen Yi wrote the inscription: “Those who die a glorious death for people's interests are worth commemorating forever.” Shi Xiaowen (1926~1949) was admitted to Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1945, and joined the New Democratic Youth League in 1949. Mu Hanxiang (1924~1949) was admitted to Chongqing Jiaotong University in 1945, and joined the CCP in 1947. They were arrested at the beginning of May 1949, and got killed early in the morning of May 20. On June 5, nearly a thousand students from Shanghai Jiaotong University got back the martyrs’ coffins from Shanghai Funeral Parlour and buried them in the campus.
