Former Residence of Ba Jin

Located at No.113 Wukang Road, it was built in 1923. It is garden residence of the European detached architectural style and fake-three-floor composite structure. There is a loggia on the first floor of the south facade, with dropping eave-style gables. At the north entrance is a semicircular arch with key stones. Ba Jin lived here from 1955 to 2005. Ba Jin (1904~2005), originally known as Li Yaotang, was born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and his native place was Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. He was a modern novelist and essayist, and his major works include novels The Torrent Trilogy (Family, Spring and Autumn), The Love Trilogy (Fog, Rain and Lightning), etc. The Former Residence of Ba Jin was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Outstanding Heritage Architecture on September 23, 1999, and as Shanghai Municipality Cultural Relics Protection Unit on April 4, 2014.
