Former Residence of Zhang Lan
Located at No.8, Lane 321, Yongjia Road, it was built in 1939. It is fake-four-floor brick-and-wood structure, with square plane, red-tile roofs, square doors and windows, and cement sgraffito walls. Zhang Lan lived here from 1946 to 1948. Zhang Lan (1872~1955), born in Nanchong, Sichuan Province, was a democratic revolutionary and educator. In 1944, he took the post of Chairman of China Democratic League and led the close cooperation with the CCP. At the end of 1946, he arrived in Shanghai, where he organized CDL Central Standing Committee Meeting to resist the KMT's “Pseudo-National Assembly”. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949 he successively served as the first Vice Chairman of the Central People's Government, Chairman of CDL, Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of NPC, etc. On April 4, 2014, the Former Residence of Zhang Lan was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
