Former Site of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee

Located at No.66, Lane 66, Yongjia Road, it was built in 1933. It is new-style neighborhood Shikumen architecture. The CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee was founded in 1927, and was destroyed for many times later. In 1937, the CPC Central Committee sent Liu Xiao to Shanghai to restore and rebuild the underground CPC. After the August 13rd Incident, the CPC Central Committee decided to rebuild Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee. The Provincial Party Committee authorities moved several times before settling down in No.66, Lane 291, Yongjia Road in April 1939. The couple of Wang Yaoshan acted as the principal tenant, and Liu Xiao acted as the sub-tenant, with the goal of covering the Provincial Party Committee’s activities. After the outbreak of the Pacific War in November 1941, the concession was occupied by the Japanese army, and the secret work environment in Shanghai was further deteriorated. In accordance with instructions of the CPC Central Committee, Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee members evacuated to Huainan successively. The Former Site of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee was announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on June 12, 1991.
