Former Site of Pathe Company
Located at No.811 Hengshan Road, it is also known as the Red Building. It was built in 1921 as a detached garden residence. The Red Building is also known as Pathe Building. Pathe Company was the largest record operating and manufacturing company in China before 1949. In the 1920s to 1930s, Nie Er, Xian Xinghai and other famous composers all worked or recorded songs in the company. It was renamed as China Record Factory in 1952, and as Shanghai Record Factory and People's Record Factory later. In 2001, the record factory and other companies were moved away, and the site was converted into Xujiahui Park. The Former Site of EMI was announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on January 5, 2004, and announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Outstanding Heritage Architecture on October 31, 2005.
