Residence at No.70 Donghu Road

Located at No.70 Donghu Road, it was built in 1934. Designed by Jian’an Surveying and Mapping Department and constructed by Xinming Construction Factory, it is four-floor brick-and-concrete structure. The facade is symmetric and concave in the middle, with a vertical three-section composition. The porch is supported by square columns, on which is a platform. The second floor and above are equipped with long balconies. The walls are semi-hexagonal, with both ends protruding forward. Square windows match primary-color cement walls. There is a large lawn in the courtyard. Du Yuesheng (1888~1951), a famous Green Gang leader in modern Shanghai, once lived here. The building is now used by Donghu Hotel. The Residence at No.70 Donghu Road was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Outstanding Heritage Architecture on October 31, 2005, and announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on December 4, 2008.
