Former Site of China Welfare Foundation Nursery

Located at No.314 Wuyuan Road, the detached garden residence was built in 1932. It is fake-three-floor composite structure. The facade has a vertical three-section asymmetrical layout. There are three floors in the middle. On the first floor is a protruding porch, with gradually recessed decorative arch lines, stone side cabinets and hexagonal lamp poles on both sides. On the second floor is a balcony. The tiger head-shaped gables on the third floor have square windows. The predecessor of China Welfare Institute Nursery was China Welfare Foundation Nursery founded by Soong Ching-ling in July 1949. It was renamed as China Welfare Institute Nursery in 1953. Now it is used by China Welfare Institute and Soong Ching-ling Foundation. The Former Site of China Welfare Association Nursery was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Outstanding Heritage Architecture on October 31, 2005, and announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on December 4, 2008.
