Former Site of Deutsche Medizinschule

Located at No.1195 Middle Fuxing Road, it was built from 1908 to 1916 and designed by Becker & Baedecker based on Prussian Royal Machinery Institute. It is two-floor brick-and-wood structure. The plane is enclosed on three sides. The arch porch at the middle entrance is supported by Tuscan columns. The building was originally the library of Deutsche Medizinschule (renamed as Institut Franco-Chinois d'Industrie et de Commerce in 1917 during World War I), and became the library of Shanghai Senior Professional School of Machinery in 1945. Now it is the library of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. The Former Site of Deutsche Medizinschule was announced by Shanghai Municipal People's Government as Shanghai Municipality Outstanding Heritage Architecture on September 23, 1999, and announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on December 4, 2008.
