Alumni Hall of Nanyang High School

Located in Nanyang High School, No.225 South 2nd Zhongshan Road, it was donated, designed and built by Nanyang High School alumni in 1926. It is two-floor brick-and-concrete structure with T-shaped plane. The facade has a three-section layout, with the middle part slightly protruding. The first floor is Alumni Hall, where Ma Xaingbo, Hu Shi, et al once gave speech. The second floor is a library collecting over 100,000 book and ancient books. The predecessor of Nanyang High School was Yucai Private School founded by Wang Weitai in 1896, the first new-type high school run by Chinese in Shanghai. After Wang Peisun succeeded Wang Weitai as the director, Yucai Private School was renamed as Private Nanyang High School in 1904. It was moved to the new school building located at South 2nd Zhongshan Road in 1909, and was renamed as Municipal High School in 1956. Alumni Hall of Nanyang High School was announced by Xuhui District People's Government as Cultural Relic Preservation Unit of Xuhui District on November 18, 2010.
