School History Museum at Shanghai Jiaotong University
The School History Museum at Shanghai Jiaotong University has been open to the public since April 1996, and the name was inscribed by Jiang Zemin. The museum is composed of three exhibition halls and a showroom, showing school history before and after 1949, information about academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering (alumni) and information about Professor Lin Tongyan. The first exhibition hall spans a time period from the founding of Nanyang Public School to the liberation of Shanghai; the second exhibition hall spans a time period from the liberation of Shanghai to today. These two halls exhibit nearly 700 pieces of precious cultural relics, documents and photos, reflecting the development process and fruitful results in its history of more than 100 years. The third exhibition hall displays pictures and information about Shanghai Jiaotong University’s academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, including pictures and information about nearly 200 academicians who studied or taught at the university. The academicians are arranged in the order of date of birth, and their biographies and major achievements are highlighted. Besides, over 300 photos, books, papers and pictures of Professor Lin Tongyan, a famous alumnus, internationally renowned structural engineering scientist, educator, and Chinese-American scholar are displayed in the showroom.
